Hands-On ASIC Hardware & Diagnostics Masterclass
An intensive two-day practical workshop in our Cowwarr lab covering hashboard voltage testing, thermal paste re-application, control board firmware flashing, and component-level fault isolation.
Program Overview & Learning Objectives
The ASIC Hardware & Diagnostics Masterclass is our premier technical training program. Participants work directly at individual lab stations equipped with digital multimeters, oscilloscope benches, thermal imaging cameras, and test benches. You will disassemble operational Antminer and Whatsminer units, diagnose hashboard dropouts, evaluate power supply voltage ripples, and replace thermal interface materials.
What is Included & Core Deliverables
- Individual workbench with operational Antminer S19 / Whatsminer M30/M50 series test units
- Hands-on multimeter testing of LDO voltage regulators and domain voltage drops
- Thermal camera profiling to detect hot spots and defective ASIC chip clusters
- Proper mechanical disassembly and torque-calibrated heatsink reassembly techniques
- Custom firmware configuration for under-volting, dynamic frequency scaling, and error log analysis
- Full hardware diagnostic checklist and physical starter tool pouch to take home
Workshop Curriculum Breakdown
Session 1: Structural Anatomy & Power Delivery
Understanding 12V and 24V busbars, switch-mode power supply safety, control board architecture, and EEPROM pinouts.
Session 2: Signal Chain & Diagnostic Measurement
Tracing CLK (Clock), TX (Transmit), RX (Receive), RST (Reset), and RI (Return) lines across serial chip domains.
Session 3: Thermal Management & Interface Materials
Removing degraded factory thermal paste, calculating interface thermal resistance, and applying phase-change thermal pads.
Session 4: Operational Bench Testing & Performance Tuning
Cold-starting repaired boards, verifying ASIC chip counts, decoding system kernel logs, and configuring low-wattage operating profiles.
Prerequisites & Safety Requirements
Basic understanding of direct current (DC) circuits and digital multimeter operation. Safety glasses and closed-toe workshop boots required.
