Refund & Cancellation Policy

1. Overview and Scope

At Focus Layer Core, we maintain small workshop cohorts (maximum 8 participants per session) to ensure dedicated bench equipment and individualized instruction. Because seats are strictly capped and diagnostic materials are prepared in advance, this policy sets out the rules governing cancellations, rescheduling, deposits, and refunds for our educational masterclasses, practical labs, and on-site electrical audits.

2. In-Person Workshops & Masterclasses (Cowwarr Lab)

For registrations in the Hands-On ASIC Hardware Masterclass, Thermal Airflow Workshop, or Immersion Cooling Lab:

• Cancellations 14 or More Days Prior: If you cancel your registration at least 14 full calendar days before the scheduled workshop start date, you will receive a 100% full refund of all fees and deposits paid, or you may transfer your booking to a future scheduled date at no additional fee.
• Cancellations Between 7 and 13 Days Prior: Cancellations made between 7 and 13 calendar days prior to the start date are eligible for a 50% refund of the total course fee, reflecting already committed lab preparation and seat reservation losses. Alternatively, you may transfer 100% of your fee toward another scheduled workshop within 6 months.
• Cancellations Less Than 7 Days Prior / No-Shows: Cancellations made with less than 7 days notice, or failure to attend on the day of the workshop (“no-show”), are non-refundable. You may nominate a qualified replacement colleague or apprentice to attend in your place at no extra charge upon notifying us at least 24 hours in advance.

3. On-Site Electrical & Facility Audits

For physical audits conducted at client farms, workshops, or commercial facilities:

• Rescheduling: You may reschedule an on-site audit date up to 5 business days prior to the agreed inspection date without penalty.
• Client Cancellation: If an audit is cancelled by the client after work has commenced (such as preliminary interval meter data review or travel bookings finalized), the client is liable for billable engineering hours already expended and non-refundable travel disbursements (e.g. regional flights or accommodation).
• Pre-Audit Cancellations: If cancelled prior to preliminary work commencement, any paid deposit is refunded in full minus a standard $150 administrative processing fee.

4. Non-Refundable Items & Expenses

The following items are non-refundable once initiated or delivered:

• Physical take-home diagnostic toolkits and precision screwdriver sets once dispatched to the attendee.
• Completed technical reports, FLIR thermal imaging documentation, or single-line diagrams that have been stamped and delivered to the client.
• Incurred third-party regional travel expenses (e.g. booked regional accommodation or vehicle hire).

5. Workshop Cancellation by Focus Layer Core

In the rare event that Focus Layer Core must cancel or postpone a workshop due to instructor illness, severe Gippsland weather emergencies, or electrical network outages, participants will be offered the choice of:

• A prompt 100% full refund of all course fees paid, or
• Guaranteed priority placement in the next available scheduled workshop session.

Focus Layer Core is not liable for secondary travel or accommodation bookings made by attendees with third-party carriers or hotels.

6. Refund Request Procedure & Processing Times

To request a cancellation, reschedule, or refund:

1. Submit an email to hello@focuslayercore.click with the subject line “Refund Request – [Your Invoice Number]”.
2. State the participant name, scheduled workshop or audit date, and reason for the request.
3. Our administration team will verify eligibility and issue a formal written confirmation within 2 business days.
4. Approved refunds are processed to the original payment method (direct bank transfer or credit card) within 5 to 7 business days.

7. Australian Consumer Law Rights

Nothing in this policy limits, restricts, or excludes any consumer guarantees or rights you are entitled to under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) and Australian Consumer Law.
